Manage HP Integrity Servers Firmware Updates

A breakthrough system maintenance tool – HP Smart Update Manager (HP SUM)

The growing problem of maintaining system firmware has become an industry-wide problem, driving unnecessary expense and complexity into infrastructure. Because of this, we have introduced a breakthrough system maintenance tool: HP Smart Update Manager (HP SUM). HP SUM provides one-click simplicity that systematically updates servers and blade infrastructures at the scale of your data center.

Firmware updates are now supported via the HP SUM tool on the newer HP Integrity servers. On older Integrity servers and other components, firmware is updated via separate tools.

For servers that support updates via HP SUM, the firmware update is provided in the form of bundles. Bundles may include the server firmware only or may also include other components such as Onboard Administrator and Virtual Connect. HP provides CloudSystem Matrix (CSM) bundles for Integrity servers as part of a CloudSystem solution.

Integrity firmware bundles are not currently included in the HP Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP). Use the links below to find and download Integrity firmware bundles, or visit HP Support and Drivers.

The following links access the HP SUM Integrity firmware bundles for the listed HP Integrity servers. Release Set Matrixes are provided to document the firmware versions of various components (for instance, IO cards, Integrated Lights-Out, Onboard Administrator, Virtual Connect) that have been tested and verified together in an integrated solution environment.

Note: HP SUM bundles are run from networked Microsoft Windows or Linux client workstations and are used to update Integrity platforms running all supported Integrity operating systems including HP-UX. For example, to update a BL860c i2 server running HP-UX 11i v3 from a Linux networked workstation, choose the HP SUM Linux bundle.
