ProLiant server blade

08/08 HP first to run Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solution 9 Benchmark with HP Integrity rx6600 and ProLiant BL460c server blade showing excellent performance results
The HP Integrity rx6600, used as the database server, and two HP ProLiant BL460c server blades, used as application and web servers, were utilized in an Oracle-conducted PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solution 9 Benchmark measuring the comparative online and batch performance of selected processes. Benchmark results showed, for 6,000 users, an average logon of 0.71 seconds, an average student load center of 0.91 seconds, an average page load of 0.83 seconds, and an average page save of 1.63 seconds.

HP is the first vendor to run this benchmark. 06/08 HP ProLiant DL580 G5 with BL460c beats IBM POWER6/POWER5 result in online performance on Oracle E-Business Suite 11i Medium Model Benchmark
In March 2008, HP submitted a new result for the HP ProLiant DL580 G5 and three ProLiant BL460c blade servers on the Oracle E-Business Suite 11i Medium Model benchmark. The HP ProLiant servers configured with Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors achieved superior results as compared to the IBM System p570 POWER6 and POWER 5 results in each of the following key measurements:
  • 33% faster in Average Response Time
  • 37% faster in 90th percentile Response Time
These results show the superior optimization of the ProLiant four-processor Quad-Core Intel Xeon server architecture versus IBM’s p570 POWER6 and POWER5 four-processor dual-core server architecture.

05/08 HP ProLiant BL685c takes #1 Windows performance on Siebel CRM Release 8.0 Benchmark Industry Applications
HP, in conjunction with Microsoft and Oracle Corp., has completed a Siebel 8.0 benchmark on an infrastructure designed to deliver a high-performance and cost-effective solution for midsized users of Siebel software. The tested configuration was built on an HP BladeSystem infrastructure running Windows Server 2003 EE operating system and an Oracle backend database. Completed as part of the CRM 8.0 Platform Sizing and Performance Program (PSPP), this benchmark, validated by Oracle Corp., demonstrated that enterprises requiring 4,700 concurrent CRM application users can confidently deploy their CRM software in a complete HP BladeSystem infrastructure and gain the advantage of an easily-managed, cost-effective infrastructure solution optimized for efficiency and change. The CRM 8.0 performance results were achieved with an HP ProLiant BL685 for the Siebel Application Server, HP ProLiant BL465 for the Siebel Web Server, and an HP rx6600 server configured at the database tier. A single HP ProLiant BL685c blade server with four dual-core AMD Opteron processors Model 8222 (3.0GHz) and 32 GB memory was used as an application server. The application server used 24 GB of memory and maintained CPU utilization of 88%. One HP ProLiant BL465c blade server was used as web server with two dual-core AMD Opteron processors Model 2218 (2.6GHz) and 4 GB memory. The Web and Application Server platforms ran Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. An HP rx6600 server was used as the database server and had four Itanium 1.6GHz Intel Itanium 2 Dual-Core processors. This compact enterprise solution demonstrates outstanding throughput, processing almost 73,000 complex business transactions per hour.

05/08 HP ProLiant BL460c takes #1 performance on Siebel CRM Release 8.0 Benchmark Industry Applications running Linux, Oracle
The HP ProLiant BL460c server blade, configured with 2 x 3.16GHz Intel Xeon X5460 Quad-Core processors with 32GB memory, took the #1 Linux result on Oracle's Siebel CRM Release 8.0 Benchmark with 4,000 users. This result defeated the IBM System x3850 by 14.2% more number of users. The starting price for the HP ProLiant BL460c server blade is also three times less than the Sun SPARC Enterprise T5120, which also ran the Siebel CRM Release 8.0 Benchmark.

05/08 HP ProLiant BL680c G5 with BL480c server blades earn the Top position on Oracle E-Business Suite 11i Medium Model Benchmark for RAC category
ProLiant leadership continues with the #1 result on the Oracle E-Business Suite 11i Medium Model Benchmark with the four-socket, Quad-Core ProLiant BL680c G5 and ProLiant BL480c server blades for Fastest Response Time, Orders-to-Catch, and Payroll Batch in the Real Application Clusters (RAC) category. The results defeated SGI's Altix 450 eight-socket, 16-core server results for the above categories and also beat IBM's p570 POWER6/POWER5 four-socket, Dual-Core server's non-RAC results for performance and price/performance.

03/08 HP ProLiant BL465c G5 server blade posts HP’s first Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ blade result on Oracle Applications Standard Benchmark (small model, single DB instance)
On March 24, 2008, HP submitted a new result for the HP ProLiant BL465c G5 on the Oracle E-Business Suite 11i Small Model benchmark. The HP ProLiant BL465c G5 achieved superior results as compared to the IBM x3850 in each of the following key measurements:
  • 88% faster in Average Response Time
  • Nearly 3x as fast in 90th percentile Response Time
  • More than twice the Order Cash Lines per Hour Batch Throughput
  • More than twice the Payroll Checks per Hour Batch Throughput
03/08 An evaluation of blade server power efficiency for the HP ProLiant BL260c G5, Dell PowerEdge M600, and IBM BladeCenter HS21 using the SPECjbb2005 Benchmark
HP evaluated the performance and energy efficiency of the HP ProLiant BladeSystem c-Class with the ProLiant BL260c G5 and compared results to those from the December 2007 Principled Technologies report on the Dell PowerEdge M600 and the IBM BladeCenter HS21 server blades utilizing the SPECjbb2005 benchmark.1 HP’s comparison of HP’s server blade result and the Principled Technologies report showed that the HP ProLiant BL260c G5 server blade attained the highest performance/watt in all configurations run.
